Big floor toms have a fuller sound around 80 100 hz but smaller toms might need to be boosted even higher around 100 200 hz.
50hz to 100hz is a good start.
The floor tom is one of the most difficult drums to equalize because if we are not careful it can end up sounding like a basketballs instead of a very powerful drum but here s an eq approach that you can take to really make it sound great so once again our floor tom sound different but if it doesn t sound really good in the room it s not going to sound good regardless of how much eq you add so the real trick here is add just enough eq to make it sound a whole lot better.
Sprinkle with highs similarly add the attack by boosting from between 5 khz and 7 khz depending on the size of the tom.
When the floor tom is mixed so that you feel it in your chest even the slightest head vibration will be amplified through the sound system as low frequency feedback.
You can bring out some extra air on the tom tracks by using a high shelf of 2 3db starting in the 5 12khz range.
Sweep around until you find the sweet spot to boost.
